Why I’m Afraid of The Big Blue Twitter Bird

by Lori Dwyer on April 9, 2010 · 12 comments

Twat’s up tweeps,

Ok. I don’t Twitter. Or Tweet. Or Tweep. Or whatever the hell you call it. I know many, many, many of you do.

It’s not that I’m not tempted. Believe me, I am. Why, think of all the things I could have Twooped, just in the last couple of hours…

My husband thinks I’m a klepto.

Taco’s or shepherd’s pie for dinner?

Crap poetry just posted on my blog!

I’m about to put both my children out for the garbo to take.

What’s a ‘nibiru’?

And that’s just the beginning. Interesting, aren’t I? Follow me, wouldn’t you? Course you would. I rock.

Sometimes, my temptation to Twite is peaked. This post by Thea did it a couple of weeks ago. The little Twitter feed Sarah had on her blog enticed me, especially the link to the giant Oreo cake she posted.

That little blue bird is everywhere, and he scares the bejeepers outta me

I have one very addictive personality- have you guessed that yet? A personality that could serve the Twitter Bird just as well as it serves the Blog Muse.

Let’s not go there. I must resist. Twitter me not.
Let’s just hope the cynics are correct and Twitter goes the way of MySpace sometime in the near future. The blue, tweeting dodo bird. And then it won’t be an issue anymore.

One can only hope.

Oh, and a Happy FlogYoBlog Friday to y’all. Even those of you with the little blue bird lurking on your pages.

So glad I'm not the only one!

I got tempted by good arguments for twitter, but I lasted about two days. I know I would get addicted. I need some quiet space in my head each day, and I just know I would be constantly checking the damn thing and seeing my whole day in terms of 140 characters of less.

By the way, happy (late) FlogYoBlog Friday!

I'm scared of it too! I hear it's the thing to do, but I don't know, I have been avoiding it as well. Glad to know I'm not alone!

I am terrified of becoming addicted to twitter as well, and so far have resisted any urge to sign up!

Happy FlogYoBlog Friday! :)

I signed up for Twitter before it caught on with the bloggers. Well, the so-called Mommy Bloggers. The Indie Music bloggers, and well, I guess you could call them the social media gurus of the world. You know, the podcasting peeps of the internets. (If you're wondering how I ended up there, it was the indie music pushers. I used to be affiliated with… eh, nevermind.) That was back in… 2007? Yes. 3 yrs. I was forced into compliance but ended up addicted.

I tweet a whole lot less now that I have a "day" job. Maybe I shouldn't at all.

Ive put the blue bird in a cage. I signed up eons ago but I just don't get it :p and so my jemikaan tweeter sits dormant collecting dust :p . Yay to flog to blog Friday. Better turn the tank comp on and blog it :)

I'm addicted.

I also need to get my feed back on the blog, thanks for reminding :)

I hear ya girl. I'm not touching that little blue bird either. I see how it sucks people in and who has that sort of time. It is hard enough to keep up with blogging and FB apps. Phew!! Resist the urge and stay sane is what I say. xxx

Thea April 9, 2010 at 8:49 am

Ohhhhh, come orn!!!!
I want to follow you! :)

C'mon Lori, come over to the dark side. You know you want to. (insert hypnotic melodies here).

Hah! Don't fall for it. Was tempted in by the Theatriss and Waffler. Poo, no fun, too hard and I just don't get it. At all.

Lasted five minutes.

Off to flog me blog before skating.
