My name is Lori, and I am shortie. A munchkin. I’m tiny. (Personally, I prefer ‘elfin’, but any of those other terms will do).
I’m 158 centimeters. That about five foot two, I think. It’s the same height as Kylie Minogue.
I am OK with this. I’ve grown accustomed to being small. I am the person who can shop in the kids clothing section, and still needs to get her pants taken up.
I have to stand on tiptoes to kiss the Man, even when I’m wearing heels.
I’m so short that if I walk at an automatic door from an angle, it doesn’t open. I’m not tall enough for the sensor to see me. Stop laughing.
And I was that kid who was always in the front row of school photos.
I used to complain to my mum about it, always being the shortest (that, and my freckles). Her response, bless her, was always “Good things come in small packages, Lori”. (And for the freckles, it was, “They’re not freckles, Lori, they’re kisses from the sun.”)
Anyhoo. Freckles aside, good things do, indeed, come in small packages. Cottees know this, obviously. Because, just in time for summer, they’ve released their Cottees cordials in 1 litre bottles.

weights 2890 grams which we waited for seven years – yes our miracle IVF baby which came in as small in today's standard of bubs… indeed good things come in small packages but continuosly fill our hearts with big and happy memories
Lori, Lexie is a small package. She is tiny. She gives small packages tpp.
She has an affiity with little things. All small things and Lexie go hand in hand.
Last night as we all sat around the table for diner, she disappeared. And then came back with a tiny little bit of yellow paper folded up into tiny squares. And gave it to me.
Upon opening it, I realised she had drawn about a hundred tiny pink love hearts on the tiny square of paper.
She had her tiny little hand on my leg and she locked eyes with me and said "That is a love heart ticket Mumma. A love heart ticket to the weekend"
That little yellow note from her is a tiny little package filled with her fun and a mark of family love.
Definitely my kids and pets, but that's a cliche so I would have to say my great-grandmother's engagement ring. I had never met her because she died before I was born, but she had told my Mum to give me her ring when she felt I would be responsible to look after it. I have to say I was 30 before my Mum gave it to me … but I love it and it is the one piece of jewellery I wear regularly. It makes me feel connected to my family, and I like to imagine Mum's Mum looking down on me and keeping me safe while I wear it. And one day I want to give it to my own daughter.
I think I beat you, I am 4'10" LOL Best thing that came in small packages would have to be both my kids!

Lol. Ok i did laugh about the automatic doors because that happens with Master B (thought not MAster D who is SMALLER for some reason?) which i always joke as it being "child safe doors" lol.
I'm going to say….baby carriers. What is more annoying than lugging a big chunky stroller around, getting it in and out of the car, and then whilst you're out and about the people who seem to jump out in front of you and then just STAND THERE. Arghhh, serious stroller rage here. Cue the baby carrier, any kind, i'm a personal lover of the Mei Tai, you can pop it in your baby bag (or if you're like me and have a large handbag it may squeeze in there), and then pull it out easily as needed. Pop it on and put your baby inside and off you go, being able to squeeze through smaller spaces, and work your way past the inconsiderate crowds.
Doubley awesome if you have other children, as it free's up your hands so you can hold the little hands of those who tend to wander, knowing with their touch they are 100% safe. You can even use many carriers to breastfeed on the go! (If you're so inclinded. I've been known to do it, but i also like to declare that time "break time" and take some time out to sit down for a bit).
That's not going into how funky the carriers can be these days, all the fabrics you can choose from (and if you're a fabric whore like me, well, you don't NEED excuses to buy fabric, but it's nice to have them!), the prints and colours. Oh my!
Can't think of many fantastic small packages that can be funky AND practical. It even provides love, feeling your baby so close.
My hubby is my small packaged good thing.
He is only about an inch taller than me. Which is handy, because we can go on tandem stilt hikes, I can stuff him into my carry on luggage for air travel, we can wear the same sized shoes (except he’s been banned from wearing my patent red Mary Jane's anymore), and I’ll never have to worry about him being concussed from incorrect doorway navigation.

We're Fun Sized!!
I was feeling absolutely stuffed recently and was sitting out back looking like I'd been dragged through the ol hedge backwards …. then, my youngest brings me a small package with a very earnest look on her face.
The package was a little kids tea set cup, full of what she called a "potion' to help me feel better. She'd gone into the garden and got all the things that I love – rose petals, fresh herbs, lime juice (now I know why she wanted me to cut one in half for her) and water – and mixed them up with her love. It looked, well, interesting and it tasted even more so. But, it did its' job – well, that and a cuddle worked wonders!

I am not such a small package (5foot11) and neither is my daughter born at 9pnds but I would have to say a hand written letter actually recieved by post is my favourite thing to find in a small package.. its such a rarity these days so when it happens my face lights up and I feel relaxed and loved instantly at the thought of someone taking the time and thinking of writting me a letter.
so I guess the piano that Matthew gave me for my birthday when we were dating wouldn't count? lol!

IPOD!!!!! one of the best things that comes Lori-sized! I'm currently going insane as I'm between ipods. cant wait to get my new one at the end of the month for my birthday, and this year it shall be known as 'ipod day' instead of Mich's birthday.
I could also go the obvious – babies, pregnancy tests, etc. – so I won't. I'm going to say my wedding. Such a small, insignificant date to so many people. Can you remember what you were doing on the 19th of September 2009? Probably not. But in my little world, I was having the best day of my life. Even if it wasn't my wedding it would have been – it was the best party I've ever thrown, the most fun I've ever had… And such a small day to the majority of the world's population.
At 162cm, i'm only a tiny bit taller than you so i can appreciate the " shorty " tag.
As for your $1000 ? I could say my engagement ring or my son – both small packages, both awesome – but i'm going to go with the small package that arrived in the mail containing my passport. That little book opened up literally the whole world to me, and getting out and seeing that big wide world opened up a huge part of me on the inside, the part that allowed me the personal and emotional freedom to find love and happiness ( hence the engagement ring, and the baby! )…

Good things that come in small packages.
My first two children, 6 pounders.
Naughty things that come in boofhead pacakages, my last child, 9 pound big balled unit.
I'm also a fellow shortie at five foot nothing. Thanx to my teeny weeny parents. My hubby is 6 foot tall and I look like a frikken midget next to him. Sometimes being small does come in handy…
When we're locked out of the house I can climb in between the burglar bars and open the doors. We're good at finding good spot in Hide 'n Seek. We don't have far to fall when we've had one to many glasses of wine. We hardly ever have to duck to go under things. We have less chance of getting struck by lightning. We can wear 6 inch heels and still have people tower over us. We're always in the front when photos are taken.
Doesn't all this mean we'll live longer?
Well, I was going to say our little one, because she is the most wonderful small package I have ever been blessed with. But in terms of ACTUAL small PACKAGES…my mind wanders to a beach in Darwin…it's 2006…my man is knelt in the sand…a small package in his hand… and he's asking me to be his girl for a lifetime and beyond…that's where good things come in small packages for me. Who knew someone could fit a life and soul in such a small package…but I do now…
I had to comment, I figured it only fair seeing as I've had to spend quite some time on your blog (my daughter spied the jellybeans again…. yours is her fave blog, hmmmmm wonder why?!) and it just wouldn't be right not to leave a comment.
Look, the thing that instantly came to mind was just too obvious and cliché so I don't feel right even entering…. But the best thing that came to us in a small package was, of course, our little premie daughter. The tiniest person and the shortest life I have ever had the pleasure to be in the presence of. But see? Very obvious, too obvious to be deemed 'original'

I got nothing to add to the small packages competition. When there are big prizes involved, my creative mind tends to go shopping instead of coming up with the great idea it needs in order to get the funds to go shopping. maybe I need some ginko biloba – which might actually come in a small package.
