Random Ramblings of The Chop and The Bump: Is It Possible To Love A Bank?

Annnnnnd… bang. We’re back to real life here, people.

More holiday photos and whatnot coming tomorrow. Meanwhile, think of this post as your equivalent to my travel comedown. You’ll still get to look at the happy snaps… but real life and all it’s mundanity await.

I’ve been asked to participate in a BOQ campaign. I thought long and hard about this one. The word ‘bank’ generally leaves a dirty taste in one’s mouth, after all.

Then I decided I can be down with the BOQ Love. Because they actually look a little bit like they care. And they’re not one of the Big Four banks who seem to be so cold and morally bankrupt.

But, really, how does one go about loving a bank? It’s, quite possibly, the ultimate dysfunctional relationship.

If you wanted to live your life without being directly associated with a particular bank, your options are limited. Burying your money in the backyard or keeping a few grand stuffed under your mattress has become largely socially unacceptable. Then there’s that annoying phenomenon of your workplace refusing to pay you in cash at all.

Within this dysfunctional bank-customer relationship, banks can be supremely narcissistic. The perception is they only ever think about themselves.

The BOQ, however, want you love them. BOQ want to prove that is possible to love a bank, their staff, and their all-new customer service model, where you actually talk to a person.

They’re making it so you can have a healthy, functional relationship with your bank. They’ve promised to end the emotional abuse. To stop the narcissism. And just be cool.

Which is a good way for a bank to be.

Anyway. In celebration of a bank that really wants you to love them, I present The Random Rambings of The Chop and The Bump, on YouTube, discussing money and stuff. It’s quite cute.

Enjoy.

And, proudly brought to you by BOQ Love- new facial recognition technology!
