I had my eyebrows waxed the other day, for the first time ever. Yes, really- ever.
Super thanks to Cassie from the FlyingDrunkenMonkey for her awesome videography skills- I totally owe you, Cass- a filming of something painful happening to you in a public place. Revenge best served cold and all that…. you’ll keep.
The lovely ladies from Nads have given me two packs to give away, each containing their Natural Hair Removal Gel and the Facial Hair Removal Wand… otherwise known as that awesome green squeezy wormy stuff. To win, leave me a comment on this post telling me- do you wax, or not? And why? This is a quickie- entries close Thursday 19th April at 8pm.
Winners drawn and notified soon after by email, to which they have 48 hours to respond or the prize is redrawn, at my discretion.. All entries must have a working email address attached to be considered valid. Answer that confuses, amuses, informs, disgusts or educates me the most wins, no arguments entered into because I am boss-lady of RRSAHM.
Aussie residents only, sorry everybody else. I can promise some international giveaways coming up very soon, and next month is a giveaway for my US of A jellybeans only– and it’s the coolest prize pack in the history of blogging. Really really. Stay tuned…

If i don't wax I become the bearded goat woman!! Been waxing for years, plucking in between when needed (always needed). Would love to try laser but not sure about pain. Have bad memories of running into a friend many years ago after she had laser (when laser was fairly new), and she was delirious from the pain, and had a red and bleeding face.
Haha that's funny! I wax and I'm used to the pain now but I had a friend talk me into trying threading once and I swear that shit HURTS! I almost didn't get the other brow done it hurt so bad. She thinks I'm crazy because I am covered in tatts and she has none and yet I found it so painful. Different strokes and all that I guess
Lol, the only reason I dont do my own eyebrows is that im scared of accidently ripping off ALL of my eyebrows!
I had a dream a couple nights back, and you were in it. I was vacationing in Australia for a week or two, and everyone kept telling me I should take this really great beach tour, but the only tours they offered lasted a month and a half, and I didn't have that long. And I said, I know someone who can show us the beach, and so we met up with you and took my 2 year old niece to the beach. It was nice, and you saved me from the huge expensive tour. I know, it makes no sense whatsoever. It was a dream. It's not my fault that it doesn't make sense. Blame my subconscious.
Ouch! I get my brows waxed maybe once a year? About a week later, after the redness has gone away and they're looking purty, I promise myself that I'll keep up with it. I make this promise every.single.time. Still only manage about once a year!
I love having my eyebrows waxed and keep vowing to do it but the reality is it's been years. Other areas of my body I'm too wussy to wax at the moment
I've always been too scared to wax. It's honestly the going on part that scares me as much as the pulling off part – I mean, what if you put it on, realise you've gone too far, then how do you get it off??!
But still, I promised a friend I was going to be badass this week. Manda Hardy, taliana42 at hotmail dot com
Oh! I'd forgotten how funny that was! You were so brave
Remind me to not meet you in person again so I don't risk being hurt in public
I too have never had my eyebrows waxed, plucked or otherwise!
I am of Italian background too & I don't need it!
It was my 40th birthday year & the lady doing my nails kind of talked me into it….
The waxing wasn't too bad but the plucking HURT!! Like having bullants repeatedly biting you! It felt sore & bruised for days but the redness was gone instantly!
I can safely say fuck that!! I will NEVER try it again & thank god I don't need to!! OUCH!!
Uh oh… That'll learn me for not double checking!! Let's say Thursday- I'll edit it ASAP. Thanks for letting me know
My vote is- pluck!! Much less painful… really
Actually, now you mention it- redness went down overnight!!
I know- I'm a lucky woman
Lori you scared me! Not because of the eye brow waxing – have that done regularly, but you said Wednesday was the 19th! My son turns ten on the 19th – which is Thursday. For a moment I thought I'd have a 9 year old for one day less than I thought!! So not ready to have a 10 year old and a day makes a big difference!(BTW, does the comp close Wednesday or Thursday?? Which is right, the day or the date??)
Ok, so don't enter me, but I actually find an eyebrow wax to be relaxing. I tweeze between waxes, and my beautician usually tweezes to tidy up and that hurts way more.
Also, yes, jealous that you don't need to wax them, but I told you that
I look like oscar the grouch if I don't tend to mine! Lol.
After somehow being convinced by a girlfriend to get our lady-parts waxed during a "spa" day–a full Brazilian no less!–I am *finally* brave enough to wax my eyebrows and legs. And as far as that Brazilian goes? Not only did I have to take my pants off in front of a stranger who is not my gynecologist, boyfriend, or mother, but I assure you, it's *every* bit as painful as it sounds. And somehow people willingly pay $50 for this service… brilliant business model.
Anyway, I'm seriously hoping that waxing my eyebrows will make me feel sexy/glamorous/less-like-a-caveman without so much of the half-naked cursing and lady-part bruising.

Love it! I'm a big fan of eyebrow waxing. I'm a diy girl too, much cheaper doing it at home and can safely say I haven't lost an eyebrow yet!
I have never waxed my eyebrows, I usually pluck them! That's got to be more painful, I think I'd prefer a quick rrrrrrrip!
I had to laugh. I can't believe you flinched over getting your eyebrows pierced when you can handle tatts and piercings! They are much worse, aren't they????
I actually kind of LOVE getting my brows done. The trick is to breathe out as they pull. Just like in labour. Breathe out the pain.
Lori,
Yes I do wax my eyebrows and am so jelly that this was your first time and tere were 3 hairs. When you come from Italian stock it is inevitable you will have "guy-brows" i find that I can't wax or pluck my own eyebrows at certain sensitive times of the month (as well as thought my whole pregnancy) so a lot of times I ripe my younger sister to do it for me. My family are so hairy that we gave our beautician tennis elbow (true story)
Take care and it was really good to see you smile- let us know how long it took for the red to "go down" (takes 3 days for me)

Wuss. It did so NOT hurt! As I was a sayin'…
Mind you, it didn't get my many grey stubbly hairs, back to tweezers for this old girl too!
(And I'm with Ms Pink. Obsessive tweezerer here. Tis quite the balm for my tortured soul).
